Knife in a sword-like form. Daggers came in many forms and in single or double-edged variations. Usually equipped with a pommel and guard and more complex hilts in the later times. Known in fourteenth century England as a misericorde.

Pommel nut
Also pommel bolt or tang nut. Capstan rivet sometimes included in pommels.
Quarterstaff
Long (6-10 ft), massive pole for personal defense yet very dangerous in skilled hands.
Shoulder
The corner part of a sword. Connects a blade to a tang.
Tip
The pointed end of a sword’s blade. Most swords taper towards the tip, but some are straight until the very tip.
