Brigandine
Form of coat-of-plates with hundreds of small plates, partially covering each other. Mobile yet protective.
Coif
Hood of fabric or mail worn under a helmet. By the twelfth century it often incor­porated a ventail.
Helm, Great Helm
Helmet surrounding the whole head. Usually consist of 4-5 metal plates riveted together. Worn over a mail or a small steel cap.
Poleyn
Armor protecting the knee.
