A barrier of wood covered in cloth to separate the jousters as they ran a course. Introduced m the fifteenth century to stop headlong collisions.

- Arbalest
- Also crossbow. Consists of a bow attached to an arched stick. Is powerful, low-trajectoried weapon. Fires a bolt (a shorter arrow).
- Broadsword
- Term usually stands for Medieval swords which is, in fact, wrong. This misnomer comes from Victorian collectors of the early 19th century.
- Lance
- Typical weapon of a man-at-arms. Firstly a long (9 ft) spear but later developed into a heavier and even longer form unsuited for infantry.
- Doublet
- A man's close-fitting jacket with or without sleeves, worn chiefly from the 14th to 16th centuries.
