- Arming sword
- Also short sword. Single-handed weapon which looks like a simple longsword. Attached to the a knight’s belt.
- Grip
- The handle of a sword. Mostly made of wire, leather, wood, ivory, bone or horn. Also a method of holding a sword.
- Lance
- Typical weapon of a man-at-arms. Firstly a long (9 ft) spear but later developed into a heavier and even longer form unsuited for infantry.
- Sabre
- A sword with a curved, single-edged blade (probably originally derived from Eastern scimitars).
