Foible
Special (Renaissance) term for the upper, weaker part of a blade. Does most of the attacking for its speed and nimbleness.
Gorget
Also called a collar. Close-fitting plate protecting the neck, throat, and upper chest.
Polaxe
See Pollaxe. See also Hache.
Ricasso
The dull part of a blade right above the hilt. Made for fingering. Not all swords have it.
