Open-faced helmet with a specific almond shaped top (also called a pear shape) with a little point. Most popular with foot soldiers and pikemen.

- Special (Renaissance) term for the upper, weaker part of a blade. Does most of the attacking for its speed and nimbleness.
- Gorget
- Also called a collar. Close-fitting plate protecting the neck, throat, and upper chest.
- Polaxe

- Ricasso
- The dull part of a blade right above the hilt. Made for fingering. Not all swords have it.
