Strap which holds a shield up the shoulders or neck.

Boss: Also umbo. The round shaped piece of metal at the center of a shield. Protects the hand.

Flukes: Close, deep fullers.

Overcoat: See Surcoat.

Scabbard: Sheath for a sword or dagger. Usually made of thin wood, lined with felt or sheepskin, and covered in leather.
