- Wraping index finger around sword’s ricasso to give it a greater tip control.

- Gauntlet with overlapping little plates fastened to a pin on the wrist.

- The dull part of a blade right above the hilt. Made for fingering. Not all swords have it.
- Waisted-grip
- Specially shaped handle. Has somewhat wider middle and narrows towards the pommel.
